Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, Old Zuni Pueblo
Zuni, NM
The original mission church was built around 1632 and almost totally destroyed in the 1680 Pueblo Revolt. It has heavy, adobe walls, often 3-4 feet thick at the base. The structure is distinguished by its large twin bell towers with corner crenellations and its contemporary twice life-sized dancing Kachina figures on the walls of the nave.
